July Eighteen Empties

July saw a tremendous heatwave in the UK and with it, the need to ensure our skin and hair stay soft and moisturised. Last month also presented products I just can’t stand. Here’s a run through of July’s empties, whether I’d repurchase and what I’m replacing them with.

The first product I endeavoured to love was the nutrafix almond oil hair conditioner. I purchased this from Poundland so I didn’t anticipate great quality. The smell is what swayed me to try this out – there are loads of other scents to choose from but this was like a carbon copy of battenberg! The consistency of the conditioner was a little creamy but far too watery for my liking. The scent upon application was fabulous, however it didn’t stick to my hair whatsoever once rinsed out. Similarly, the smooth texture of some of the higher priced conditioners was pretty much non-existent and washed away as soon as the water hit my hair. Overall then, I wouldn’t repurchase and I’ve moved on to a conditioner from The White Company.

Moving on to something a lot more positive, we have a hand and body lotion from Beauty Kitchen via Holland and Barrett. This is one of those products that literally tells no lies on the bottle and does what it says on the tin, so to speak. The lemongrass is a prominent scent and left me feeling fresh out of the shower – a real summer staple smell. It was super fast absorbing and a little went a long way. It’s not a thick moisturiser by any means, which I prefer with my oily skin. The sweet almond oil and shea butter did a great job keeping me soft and most importantly not peeling when I had some pesky sunburn. 10 out of 10 recommend and would repurchase!

After the Beauty Kitchen lotion I moved onto the Nivea Soft moisturising cream. It was so thick in comparison! I have no qualms about Nivea in general; I liked the scent of this and it tended to last a significant amount of time, as well as keeping my skin supple. Would I repurchase? Probably not because as I said, my skin prefers a lighter moisturiser. It’s definitely one for dry skin, however! I’ve moved on to the Creme D’Amande Almond lotion with shea butter. As mentioned in my April empties, I have a never-ending supply of birthday and Christmas products to get through, but once they’re out, I’ll definitely be looking into Beauty Kitchen again.

The Simple Soothing Facial Toner has honestly become one of my favourite skincare products to beat this skin issue of mine. It’s barely scented and picks up any leftover residue after cleansing. It’s gentle on my skin and definitely something I’m looking into repurchasing. I’ve moved on to a Garnier toner I already had, however once that’s gone I’m definitely going back to Simple!

Finally, get ready boys and girls! It’s the L’Oreal Fast Dry top coat I rave about in every other Instagram post. It’s absolutely fast drying, absolutely chip proof, always keeps my base colours in place for a week minimum and is generally my all-round favourite thing on the planet bar my family and food. I’ve almost finished my second bottle and will be purchasing for the third time very soon. I can’t paint my nails without reaching for this anymore. I’ll cry if Fragrance Direct discontinue it.

That’s it my lovelies! The next empties blog will be around the time my son starts nursery (cry) as a three year old (cry) and I’ll be starting the last year of my degree (also cry). Take care of yourselves and let me know if you’ve tried any of the above products in the comments!
